I have been using splash pages for several years now. And I have good reasons for doing that.

Since I’m actively using both Traffic Exchanges and Safelists, I learned that you only get a few seconds to grab somebodies attention. And here I already explained why splash pages are important for Safelist and Traffic Exchange users!

Again: You only have a few seconds to show what you have to offer.

On daily basis, I see people advertising their stuff with websites that contain tons of text and content like subscription forms, comments and testimonials. I always wonder; why? It is useless and a waste of valuable credits and time.

Creating a splash page is pretty simple and uses actually not very much of your time. Besides that, most people will love creating one while using their creativity. I do use my personal GDI domain and hosting to store my pages. Owning your own domain enables you to use it the way you want it. Of course there are several free hosting options, but majority of them would not allow you to create a page without advertisements from that hosting company. My own domain and hosting enables me to pick my own content. And although I pay money for that freedom, my domain is stable and it generates me more money then it costs. In other words: it brings me money!

I use a few rules to make sure it is effective:

1. Keep it simple and short
2. Do not use scripts like flash, YouTube etc… or whatever script that can be blocked (and probably should be blocked for your own safety)
3. Make sure your page loads as fast as possible.
4. Use pretty colors, they should be attractive and grab attention.
5. Don’t copy someone else ‘s ideas! Make sure your page is unique.

By following the above guidelines, you can be sure that you will grab attention. You splash page should be an invitation to click on it. And that’s what an advertiser is looking for! You want people to visit your destination page!

With traffic exchanges you will see tons of pages, and they are in a way all similar. This would prevent people from visiting the pages they see, and just go to the next page! Here is the key for good splash pages, because it should be different from all other ones and because of that, draw attention. I can not mention it often enough!

So why would I recommend not using scripts like flash? Well it is pretty clear these days, that many Traffic Exchange – and Safelist – users do protect themselves from scripts that have hidden nasty viruses, ad-ware and spy-ware in them. For people who visit so many websites it is best and also recommended by myself, to use script blockers. As a result, many of us will never see that beautiful splash page in full glory. Since many users block flash or whatever scripts that are executed from a website. Besides that, scripts are generally taking more time to load, and by the time that it is loaded a potential visitor could already have clicked to the next page or email without ever seeing the whole offer. That’s sad and not very smart in my humble opinion.

So again: keep it plain and simple!

Ask yourself, would this page draw your attention faster then this page? I guess the first page would easily get more interested visitors, so it would be more effective.

A safelist is a mailing list that is geared towards advertising web sites, business opportunities, and so forth. This email account could obviously receive tons of emails!

When you join a free safelist, you get the right to post an ad every so often,
perhaps once a day. But other members have the same right – there is absolutely
no incentive whatsoever for them to ever read your safelist ads!

Join safelist programs that runs on credits (credit based safelists) – you must have credits to post your ad to the member list. And the best way to get tons of free credits is to read the emails from other members. It’s a win-win situation: you get your ad read by thousands of other members, and those other members earn free credits for reading it! Free safelist advertising is very popular with internet marketers because most safelists have a free safelist membership option which allows you to advertise your opportunity or service for free. All you do is earn enough safelist credits and you can send out your ad in the credit mailer. If you don’t have time to earn credits you can purchase safelist credits or upgrade your membership.
